Ever since This Is Us came to our screens last year, the series has hit us with all kinds of emotions. Following a unique story line which explores the past and the present, this drama focuses on the Pearson family and their struggles. And when they cry, we do too.

While the second season has aired in the US, there’s no confirmation on when – or if – it will air on Aussie TV screens (we’re crossing our fingers that it drops soon!)

So, grab your tissues as we relive some of the moments in season one that had us sitting in our own puddle of tears.

The death of the third baby: In the first episode of the series, Rebecca (Mandy Moore) is pregnant with triplets and goes into labour. But the third baby doesn’t make it, and so it’s up to husband Jack (Milo Ventimiglia) to break the news to his wife. This is one of the most devastating moments in the series, and watching Jack try to tell his disbelieving wife about their loss still pulls our heartstrings.

Randall’s father dies: Even though the opening moments of “Memphis” hinted that William (Ron Cephas Jones), Randall’s (Sterling K. Brown) biological father, wouldn’t survive the episode, we still held onto some hope. After the son and father duo travel to William’s hometown of Memphis, he takes a turn for the worst and is rushed to hospital where he slowly slips away. By his side, Randall comforts him the same way Jack once did, by placing his hands on his face and telling him to breathe.

Kevin comforts Randall: The conflict between brothers Kevin (Justin Hartley) and Randall began when they were just kids, and through the flashbacks, we learn that Kevin knew of his sibling’s panic attacks but never tried to help him. This changes when Kevin, who is supposed to be making his Broadway debut, ditches the play to comfort his brother who is having a breakdown. We couldn’t help but tear up from this act of brotherly love.

Kate reveals her father’s death: Up until this moment, we had only seen Jack through flashbacks. And although we were expecting the worst scenario, we really didn’t want it to happen. During the Super Bowl game, Toby (Chris Sullivan) goes over to his fiancée Kate’s (Chrissy Metz) home and says he would like to meet her dad. In response, Kate pulls an urn off the shelf. Cue the waterworks.

Doctor Katowski visits his wife’s grave: During an episode which was completely dedicated to the triplet’s birth, we also learn about Doctor Katowski (Gerald McRaney) who delivered them. Having lost his wife the previous year, Doctor K finds it hard to move on and still talks to her at the breakfast table every morning. Things only get worse when he visits her grave, and confesses that he doesn’t think he can go on. Seeing how the birth of the Rebecca and Jack’s kids impacts the doc, we had to reach for the tissues.
