Turia Pitt’s courage and honesty has won her a legion of fans, but there’s one guy who finds her more inspiring than anyone else – her fiance Michael Hoskins.
Enjoying some downtime together while visiting Bondi Beach last week, the couple were the picture of happiness, wrapping their arms around each other on a romantic walk on the sand.
Turia beat the odds after doctors told her that she may not survive her injuries.
Michael proposed on holiday in the Maldives in 2015.
The pair look so in love.
“Be with people who bring out the best in you, not the stress in you,” Turia, 29, captioned a photo of herself with Michael online recently.
Former police officer Michael, 32, has been by Turia’s side every step of the way since tragedy struck in 2011, when Turia was trapped in a fire while competing in a 100km ultramarathon.
It left her with horrific burns to 65 per cent of her body.
But with Michael by her side – he gave up his job to care for her and bought her engagement ring while she was still in intensive care – Turia has gone on to kick one goal after another.
The couple, from Ulladulla, NSW, share a passion for the great outdoors.
“I’m not going to lie and say it was easy. But the days when I really struggled, I looked at Michael and borrowed his hope.”

Sharing her thoughts on her blog recently, Turia admitted it was Michael’s unwavering belief in her that helped her through the tough times.
“I’m not going to lie and say it was easy. But the days when I really struggled, when the pain was so agonising, when I believed I had no future, I looked at Michael and borrowed his hope. His belief in me that I could get through this.”
The 29-year-old is planning on a trek to Everest Base Camp later this year.
