The birthday cake that accidentally went horribly wrong

This is why you should always double-check.

When you’re organising a massive birthday bash for your daughter’s 21st, the best way to avoid stress should technically be to outsource.

However, for one mum from Lanarkshire, Scotland, outsourcing the making of the birthday cake to a professional turned out to be more of a headache than a help.

Maggie Seggie had written a quick text to a baker requesting that the figurine on top of her prized cake had ‘blonde hair’ like her daughter, Laura, does.

However, as it is so prone to do, autocorrect pulled a fast one on her and changed the word ‘blonde’ to ‘blind’– a mistake she only discovered when the cake was unveiled at the 21st birthday party looking like this:

Luckily for us, her other daughter Emily had a great sense of humour and shared the hilarious gaffe on Twitter.

“My mum ordered a cake for my sisters and asked for a blond girl on top but it auto-corrected to blind n we got this,” she wrote.

“It was one of my mum’s friends that made the cake for Laura. At the last minute, mum texted her and asked her to put a wee blond figure on top.

“When we got the cake on Friday, mum called us in and asked us if we could see anything wrong with it.

“We were a bit confused why there was a blind girl on top but then mum told us the mistake she had made with auto-correct.

“Thankfully we all saw the funny side of it, including my mum’s friend.

“We were going to take it off the top because we weren’t sure if it would be seen as offensive but decided to keep it in the end.

“We all just laughed about it. I uploaded it on Twitter and it just went crazy. I woke up and couldn’t believe how many times it had been shared.”

Users found the mix-up so funny, the tweet has now been shared over 13,000 times in the past twenty-four hours alone.
