Sandra Bullock has announces that she has adopted a three-year-old girl named Laila, who she had been fostering.

Sandra, 51, is already a mother to a boy, Louis, 5.

She told People magazine that she has worked hard to protect Laila’s privacy while going through the adoption process.

“Most foster children are in foster care because they were taken from their birth homes under tragic circumstances — and the last thing I wanted was to bring more harm to her because of the nature of my job,” Sandra said.

She say she was horrified some months back to learn “that a photo of her was being shopped around for sale to every outlet around the world. I had promised and legally agreed to protect her from something like this, and here I was chasing down lawyers — having them begging them to keep her safe”.

Bullock said she was scared that the media interest in her life might prevent her from adopting the little girl, who comes from Louisiana — the same US state as her adopted son.

“When I look at Laila, there’s no doubt in my mind that she was supposed to be here,” Bullock said. “I can tell you absolutely, the exact right children came to me at the exact right time.”

“My family is blended and diverse, nutty, and loving and understanding,” said the actress, “That’s a family.”

“I have no idea what a traditional family looks like anymore. If a traditional home is one that is filled with lots of love and poop jokes, no sleep, schedule books filled with more kids’ social events than adults’ and lots of yelling over who touched who first, then I have a very traditional family.”

Congratulations Sandra!
