Downton Abbey’s Michelle Dockery has spent her 34th birthday preparing for her fiancé’s funeral after he passed away on Sunday, the Daily Mail reports.
John Dineen, a PR professional from Ireland, died at a hospice outside Cork on Sunday morning. The 34-year-old had been diagnosed with a rare form of cancer this year.
It is believed Ms Dockery and Mr Dineen had been dating for two years, after they were introduced by Downton co-star Allen Leech in 2013. She rushed to his side from the U.S. when she heard he had taken a turn for the worst.
A private funeral service is scheduled to take tomorrow.
A spokesman for Ms Dockery said, “The family is very grateful for the support and kindness they have received but would kindly request that they are left to grieve in private.”
