J.K. Rowling’s crime novels to be made into a television series

Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling has revealed that her recent crime novels are heading for the small screen.

The author’s novels, which she penned under the name Robert Galbraith, will be made into a television series on BBC One.

The witty writer tweeted the news to fans: “My friend @RGalbraith’s first novel is going to be a TV drama on @BBCOne. He’s very excited, but expressing it with characteristic silence.”

The Cuckoo’s Calling became a best-seller after the Harry Potter writer was revealed as its author. Rowling followed up that book with The Silkworm.

The new television series is being produced by Brontë Film and TV.

A statement said that “J.K. Rowling will collaborate on the project, with the number and length of episodes to be decided once the creative adaptation process has formally begun”.

Danny Cohen, Director of BBC Television said: “It’s a wonderful coup for BBC Television to be bringing J.K. Rowling’s latest books to the screen. With the rich character of Cormoran Strike at their heart, these dramas will be event television across the world.”

J.K. Rowling’s earlier novel, The Casual Vacancy, was also adapted for the small screen and will air in February.
