Parents have spent decades devising devious ways to trick their kids into eating healthy food but supermodel Heidi Klum has come up with a much simpler solution: she just pays them.

Heidi, 39, has revealed she pays her four children — Leni, eight, Henry, seven, Johan, six, and Lou, three — $1 each every morning if they finish their fresh fruit smoothie.

“My New Year’s resolution for 2013 was to start every day with a fresh juice,” Heidi told the US issue of OK! magazine.

“We make an effort every morning — we peel pineapples, apples, lemons, bananas, kiwis, ginger and berries and we make delicious smoothies.

“Some of my kids don’t love it so I decided I would pay them a dollar if they finish their drink. All of the money goes into their piggy banks, they have collected a bunch of money since January 1. What’s good for them is good for me as well.”

While Heidi is committed to raising healthy children, she says there is a place for junk food in family life.

She says she occasionally allows her kids to “splurge” on hamburgers and chocolate.

“I love a good hamburger and French fries with mayonnaise and ketchup,” she said. “That’s definitely one of my splurges. And chocolate with hazelnuts.”
