Bindi’s big payday

Everything that I make goes straight back to wildlife conservation, which is really wonderful.

It’s finally payday for Bindi Irwin, after a judge ruled the Dancing with the Stars winner should receive payment for the show despite still being a minor.

The court documents were approved last week, according to TMZ, who originally reported the payment was being held because Bindi was only 17.

Both parents need to sign a document giving up rights to the money, and hence, the court required Steve Irwin’s death certificate.

Bindi will reportedly receive more than $US350,000 after her win on the hit US show, after her contract ensured she’d be paid a guaranteed $US125,000 with increases for remaining in the competition.

But she won’t be taking the fat pay check all for herself.

“For us, we donate everything back to wildlife conservation. So everything that I make goes straight back to wildlife conservation, which is really wonderful. But what’s interesting is after you pay tax to everything else, with Australia and all these other places, that actually it doesn’t add up to be that much,” said Bindi when arriving back in Australia in December.

“So it looks to be a good number, but it’s not actually that much.”
