Aussie singer Sia has ditched her trademark monochrome wig and revealed her actual face. Known for hiding under oversized faux hair and absurdly large hats, Sia opted for a low-key, minimal makeup look while at LAX in Los Angeles and it was quite the sight.

In a plain, beige outfit by fashion brand Kenzo, bright white sneakers and carrying a pastel pink tote bag, Sia could have been mistaken for just any regular person.

“I don’t wear this thing [the wig] unless there are cameras around,” Sia explained to James Corden while appearing on his show in February. “I only wear this to try and maintain a modicum of privacy.”

But there’s an even more important reason why Sia’s privacy is so important to her.

“I was a singer already for 10 or 11 years to mediocre success,” she explained to James. “I was an alcoholic and a drug addict. I sobered up, and I decided I didn’t want to be an artist anymore, because I was starting to get a little bit famous and it was destabilising in some way. So, I thought, ‘What doesn’t exist in pop music at the moment?’ And it was mystery. I was like, there’s pictures on Instagram of everyone at the dentist.”

The private musician recently divorced from husband Erik Lang, telling E! News in a joint statement in December 2016: “After much soul searching and consideration we have made the decision to separate as a couple. We are, however, dedicated to remaining friends. There will be no further comment.”

She also hinted at the time that her fame might be to blame, “It’s kind of disappointing because we can’t do anything. I’m kind of a bit famous, I didn’t realise I’m so famous.”

After a string of number-one singles and Grammy nominations, Sia has well and truly cemented her place in music’s top tier, with or without her wig.
